Final post

Hello, I have loved doing DMA this year. It has taught me not only a lot about graphic arts, but about myself also. It has taught me different things I love to do and styles I enjoy. I am really going to miss this class as it was a sort of escape for me. A way to kind of explore myself and my art. Well anyway I will leave you with one of my favorite pieces I've ever done and wish all you luck on your future projects.

Love

Last post for now :(

I found this double exposure on Pinterest and really like how the trees play are used for the girl's hair and the placement of the birds in the back creates movement. The color scheme of the sky in the back with the brown texture create an interesting retro vibe. This makes me excited for AP dma next year!

Final Post

Hi everybody!
As a senior I am definitely going to miss DMA. This class has taught me so much and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to take it! This is one of my favorite pieces from this year, my illustrator portrait. It was one of the most challenging to make but it really pushed me to be a better artist and it was definitely worth it in the end to see it win a silver key in scholastics!
Next year I will be attending UC DAAP with a major in Communication Design and am so excited to take the skills I've learned here even farther. Thank you to everyone who helped me get here!

lol bye

It's almost over and as some of you know I despised high school so I will not miss this building but DMA was one of my few enjoyable classes (at times) and kind of helped me decide what I want to go into in the future so that was okay I GUESS.

Next year I'm attending the University of Miami in Florida and hopefully triple majoring in Film Production, Women and Gender Studies, and French. If I ever make a motion picture you will all feel obligated to go view it. Here's a thing I made last year that I liked if you have any interest in viewing it.

Okay goodbye forever

Moving on, goodbyes to all.

Kings High School has been home and a great experience for the time I spent here. I will, in less than a month, be finding what my next place in the world will be.  I will be attending UC DAAP for Industrial Design next year.  Please follow me at anythinggrace.com and feel free to contact me at graceficke@rocketmail.com!

Thanks to everyone who helped me along the way.

Last Post

Hey Friends...
It's unfortunately that time of the year for my last blog post ever. It has truly been an incredible three years in DMA and has been quite a journey. I'm happy to say that I will be continuing in this field and attending Miami University for Graphic Design in the Fall of 2016 and will be minoring in Fashion Design or Photography (or both). I would like to especially thank Mrs. Shields and Mrs. Barnes. I wouldn't be where I am right now if it wasn't for them and their support through the years. I'd also like to thank my awesome AP Fam for an amazing and unforgettable year. Good luck to all of you lovely DMA people in the future!

Daydreaming

These photos are by a photographer named Brooke Shaden. I like them because they're very eerie looking and have a quality of being in a part of the fantasy world. I like how they make you think of what Brooke is trying to say.

Led Zeppelin III

Such incredible detail went into this album cover.
It looks like a simple mish-mash that could be done on Photoshop in 20 minutes. But Photoshop didn't exist back then in 1970 when this album was released. Another fun aspect of this album is that there is a wheel insert behind the front cover. There are holes on the front of the album that reveal pictures of band members on the wheel. The album was designed by Zacron.

James Franco

In honor of it being my true love's birthday, here is a gorgeous digital painting of James Franco. I love the highlights and shadow on his face, and how the brush strokes aren't as neat and make it have a more hand touched feel.

I really like this pug because I love the tribal pattern that makes out the pug. It is very eye appealing and very cute. The contrast between the colors is very good.

I like this picture a lot because it gives a good city vibe that opens up your imagination.

I love these because the body is portraying a different form then usual and being created into something completely different.

HDR Photography

My favorite project from this year were my HDR photos. I love them because they create an entirely new photo and give the photo a different story.

Portfolio Covers

I love this silhouette and text and the details around it, this just makes the message more clear.

Opposites Attract

In DMA, we are starting a Music Video project and just finished an Animation project. As a result,  I thought that posting a video that symbolized and used animation to create a music video would be interesting. Below Paula Abdul's Opposites Attract

Kobe scored 60 points in his last game. I really like this painting of him.

These are banana sculptures, thats pretty much enough said. The shear detail and time put into these are amazing on its own. These beautiful masterpieces were made with an ordinary tooth pic and that is amazing that the artist Keisuke Yamada took the time to create these sculptures. Coolest thing anyone could ever make.

Tree of Life

Hello all!
At first glance, “Tree of Life” looks to be simply a handsome rubbing of a tree trunk cross-section, which alone I find pretty attractive. But closer scrutiny reveals tree rings made up of thousands of minuscule animal drawings. Designed by Gary, Aaron & Khairul of Degree, "Tree of Life" was created with the intent of drawing attention to rainforest deforestation and the dwindling habitat of millions of animal species that live there, or are now extinct.
Pretty cool, huh?

Moss Graffiti

Hey guys it's Abbey and I wanted to share this cool graffiti technique with you guys. You can make art with moss! The guy in the photo is painting a lizard onto an outdoor stone wall, and in a few weeks, it will grow into a mossy masterpiece. You can find how to do it here. I think it's super cool and non destructive, and summer is the perfect time to try it out.

Art on Drugs

Hey guys! So for this week's blog post I found some really interesting on twitter! I stumbled upon a compilation of artwork created by Brain Pollett. Over the span of 20 days he recreated the same art piece on different drugs. Even though drugs are BAD, it's interesting to see the effect it can have on a person's artwork.

Flower Girl Instagram

I found these pictures on Pinterest and I think they are so creative! I love how @moomooi (Instagram username) Uses flowers and other objects of nature to create fashion illustrations.
Here is the link to an artical about her!

Patrick Seymour

Amazing Digital Illustrations - 1Amazing Digital Illustrations - 2Amazing Digital Illustrations - 3Amazing Digital Illustrations - 11

These four pieces are were all made by Patrick Seymour. I really like all of these because they are very realistic, but made of simple lines. Some are more life like that others, including the tiger and wolf, but all of the pieces are unique. I also like how all of his pieces have the same black background which make the main subject stand out. You can check out more of Patrick's art at http://graphicdesignjunction.com/2014/01/amazing-digital-art-patrick-seymour/

Hello all, this week I wanted to share with you some of the background paintings used in my favorite movie, Kiki's Delivery Service. This movie was a Studio Ghibli film made back in 1989, directed by Hayao Miyazaki. I decided to dedicate my blog post to this not only because it has personal meaning to me, but also because the art for it is simply breath taking, just look at it!! Something that I really love about animation is that studios will often merge traditional mediums with the animation. These backgrounds are hand painted, and I think that it really gives the films their own individual atmosphere and tone, especially when mixed with the beautiful soundtracks composed by Joe Hisaishi.
I'll just drop this song here as a bonus to my ridiculously long post... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJbkkibYA54
If you ever want to relax, I highly recommend listening to some of his music!!

I really love this dog, not only is it cute but also it's really interesting to look at because of the bright colors they really pop and make the piece really cool.

Tattoos

Tattoos in my opinion are the best form of art because you can design whatever you want, you can put it on anywhere on your body, and then you get the pleasure of walking around with this art on your body forever. Tattoos make people walking art pieces. I have 2 small tattoos that both mean a lot to me but one day i would love to have an entire arm full of art. My next tattoo I want is the world on my wrist or inside of my arm. I want this because someday I want to travel and with every place i go i want to put a little white star inside of the world tattoo.

I really like this HDR picture because it looks like somebody took a lot of time to edit it but in reality you just click a button and even iPhones have it too. I just really like HDR photography.

Parks and Rec

We have been working on our animation project and I found this picture of the Parks and Recreation characters and noticed how each character has a different expression that describes their personality. In particular you can see the way that Ron Swanson's eyebrows are down to make him look angry and Tom's are up to make him look excited. Also, features like hands can help allude to certain emotions. I liked how this artist took something they liked and animated the characters to give them their defined personalities.

Waves

Hey guys it's Morgan. I came across this collage on Pinterest and absolutely fell in love with it. The colors are so beautiful and the way it was collaged makes this piece on art so amazing. There are so many cool collages to look up on Pinterest and you should definitely check them out!

pop art

This is a photo by Thomas Kneips.  I really like how he combined a
cartoon/ pop art feel with a photograph to create an interesting contrast in the photo.
