BLACK THE MOVIE TIME LAPSE MURAL

Time lapse video of a red carpet mural with my mural collective STUDIO ENTROPICA for BLACK. An epic gangster romance movie by my buddies and movie directors Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah. Went out of my comfort zone to design something that matched the poster art more. The movie is about two rival gangs in Brussels hence the two wild animals against an abstract urban jungle backdrop. Learned a lot from having to pull this off quickly. Great fun.

SUBBACULTCHA MURAL INTERVIEW

Because of the Diego Rivera inspired mural for Mestizo Arts Festival I recently worked on with 4 great illustrators, I was interviewed by Subbacultcha, an independent arts and music magazine. They wanted to know about our favorite murals in Antwerp. I talk about the one designed by comic strip artist Brecht Evens. ( click image to go to the site)

AB HOSTEL ANTWERP (MURAL)

Making of the mural I did for AB Hostel in Antwerp. It used to be a chocolate factory, so I added some references to that, Belgian foods, the city and harbor of Antwerp and of course travelling. Great fun !
The mural was part of “Discover Antwerp Through Experience”-project where 12 international creatives were led through Antwerp for a week. In the animated gif for a few frames in the Light Blue shirt you can spot Paris-based Reynald Feracci helping me out, who has a fashion label called http://mamama-paris.com/.

TV SHOW KINDERGARTEN CLASS MURAL

Helped out my best friend Adil el Arbi. He’s a movie director and took part in a tv show. He had to perform a series of tasks and ask for help through social media. One of these tasks was to revamp a kindergarten classroom in a school in the C-Mine area of Beringen, Genk (Belgium). An old mining village with lots of Turkish, Polish and Italian flavor.

Volunteers transformed the classroom by building new walls, a big mirror and furniture. Pretty crazy. And I did a really fast mural to spice up the place, having slept only 3 hours. There was no time to repaint the green wall, so I tried to make it as fun as possible with doodles, silly characters and a reference to the mines. Met so many nice people. Unexpected adventures like these make life great.

C-Mine, Genk. I love old industrial stuff like this !

PERMEKE LIBRARY MURAL

I did a big trippy colourful musical mural during The Big Draw festival in Antwerp at the Permeke Library. Loads of details, some Beatles references and an unintentional Keith Haring vibe went into it. Man that was fun. Would love to do more murals in countries over the world. Let me know if you can help me with that.

My mural is an ode to the famous Antwerp painter Peter Paul Rubens.

360° ELECTRICAL CABINET ILLUSTRATION

Last week 92-year old Belgian comic strip hero Marc Sleen inaugurated his own "Nero Stripmuur" mural in Antwerp. I felt privileged to design a 360° illustration print for an electrical street cabinet in front of the mural. It features a map of Antwerp with a walking tour that features all 10 comic strip murals. In connection with the mural I put in references to the comic Nero and to Antwerp and its maritime history.

KIRSI MURAL

I'm finishing an improvised mural at my awesome cousin Kirsi's house. I started working on it last year and keep drawing new bits every now and then untill the wall is full. It's a giant nostalgic oriental metropolis, drawn with paint markers.
